Overview
Photopress is a SaaS platform that enables photographers and print vendors to sell custom photobooks directly through their Shopify storefront. Customers design their book online, and the platform handles everything from image storage to PDF generation and order fulfilment — automatically.
The Challenge
The product required a deeply technical architecture: a multi-tenant Shopify app, a custom online editor, R2-based image storage, client-side PDF generation at print resolution, dynamic pricing based on page count, and a vendor admin panel — all working together without a single manual step in the order flow.
Our Solution
We designed a clean multi-layer architecture: a Next.js storefront, a Node.js backend handling Shopify webhooks and vendor management, a React-based editor with Fabric.js for canvas manipulation, and Cloudflare R2 for image storage. PDF generation runs client-side using jsPDF with CORS-safe R2 image fetching. The result is a fully automated photobook commerce pipeline.
